The Banter Bulldogge should be a powerfully built, athletic, muscular mid-sized Bulldogge / Mastiff with minimal white. A strong working dog with a bully build, their legs still underneath them they are great guard dogs and hunters.
In the late 1990s, Todd Tripp of Southeast Ohio wanted to re-create the Brabanter Bullenbeisser breed from Brabant, a central Belgium province. The Brabanter Bullenbeisser was a small, family working dog in the 1700s and 1800s. Todd Tripp used a Boxer and another working bull breed. By selecting the breeds for the foundation, was able to create the Banter Bulldogge. The word banter means “to address in a witty and teasing manner” - a definition that matches the temperament of this breed.
