The history of the Clumber Spaniel is not clearly dated, but people believe that the breed originated from France at about 18th century and it’s ancestors was thought to be Basset Hound. With good capability in hunting and sober character, the breed was soon becoming popular. Duc de Noailles in France was terrified by riots and had to send the dog to his friend, an England Duke. Due to the big size and heavy weight, the breed was not reacting as swift as his peer breeds with lighter weight.
