A typical JRT is short, sturdy, and strong. Their tail is as long as their body. The head is flat, a medium-length muzzle, black notes, and an almond-shaped eyes. The coats are smooth, but they also help protect the JRT from bad weather. The coat colors are two-tone or tri-color patterns of white, brown, and sometimes black.
The Jack Russell Terrier (JRT), which originated in England, but developed in Australia, was derived from Reverend Parson's fox working terrier strains. However, the JRT and Parson Russell Terrier are distinctly different in terms of body structure and height. JRTs have short stock, and they are characterized by two-tone or tri-color patterns of white, brown, and sometimes black. Since JRTs are small, they are very ideal to be carried on horseback in terrier bags, a requisite for certain terrain.
